HOLLYWOOD BOWL TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING ENHANCEMENTS FOR THE 2024 SEASON RESULT IN INCREASED BUS RIDERSHIP AND REDUCED NUMBER OF CARS ON THE ROAD, SUPPORTING ACCESSIBILITY AND SUSTAINABILITY EFFORTS

LOS ANGELES, CA, October 4, 2024 – The Los Angeles Philharmonicthe County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation, and the County of Los Angeles Fifth Supervisorial District have jointly announced that bus ridership to and from the Hollywood Bowl for LA Phil events, through the Hollywood Bowl Shuttle or Park & Ride options, has increased to an average of 36% of Bowl visitors, up from an average of 29% in 2023. This represents the highest ever bus ridership season to date, making the Bowl more accessible than ever while also mitigating traffic to the Bowl and adjacent neighborhoods. Thanks to the increase in bus ridership, auto traffic in the Hollywood Hills and surrounding neighborhoods has decreased by approximately 115,400 vehicles through this point in the season.

Kathryn Barger, Fifth District Supervisor of Los Angeles County, said “The Hollywood Bowl is a jewel in our community. I’m a proud supporter of our partnerships with the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation and the LA Phil, who work hard to help ease congestion on our roads, alleviating traffic for neighbors and visitors alike. Together, we’re all focused on implementing programs that make it easier for the public to experience the magic this iconic venue offers.”

County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation Director Norma E. García-Gonzalez said, “We thank Supervisor Barger for improving transportation access to the Hollywood Bowl this season. These transit improvements at one of LA County Parks’ most beloved facilities improve accessibility for all concertgoers. We’re proud to support the LA Phil’s efforts to expand bus ridership options and reduce the number of cars on the road, which in turn alleviates traffic congestion in the surrounding neighborhoods, enhances sustainability efforts and improves the overall experience for our audiences.”

LA Phil CEO Kim Noltemy said, “Each year at the Hollywood Bowl, it is our responsibility not only to create an ambitious and innovative artistic program, but to ensure that we match the excellence of our program with the best visitor experience possible for our audiences, and we know that experience begins before you arrive at your seat. The Bowl bus is still the best way to get to and from the Bowl, and we’ve also improved the drop-off and pickup experience for rideshare. We are committed to doing all that we can to ensure that the Hollywood Bowl is accessible and welcoming to all, and that your experience here is one that you will remember fondly for years to come.”
